Throughout your child’s time at Meole Brace School, they will be part of many in school events and have the opportunity to attend trips out of school to help them learn about the range of course and careers available to them. Highlights from this year include our alternative to Work Experience carousel event, the Year 8 Employer workshops and the Year 7 National Enterprise Challenge.
During the Post-16 application process, we emphasise the role of parents in helping with decision making at this crucial stage. We also encourage you to take your child to as many open evenings and taster sessions as possible to help them to make an informed decision about which course is right for them. Your child will have a Careers Advice appointment in Year 10 and 11. This is a good opportunity for you to discuss their ideas and make a plan of what to do next.
We encourage parents and carers to use career path and labour market information to aid the support given to their children. Below are this year's LMI (Labour Market Information) posters produced by the National Careers Service which you may find helpful for doing this.
When the Careers Programme is reviewed each year, we invite parents to give feedback on the events that their child has been part of to help us to measure impact and continually develop the careers provision we provide.
