Personal Development

Personal Development

Student personal development is the curriculum and activities that extend beyond the academic, technical or vocational. This helps and supports pupils to develop in many diverse aspects of life.

· There are many areas of personal development, including:

· Supporting students to become responsible, respectful and active citizens

· Promoting an inclusive environment within and outside of school

· Promoting an equality of opportunity among all students

· Developing students’ characters and own personal values

· Providing a high quality and encompassing level of pastoral support for students

· Supporting students to remain healthy and happy in all aspects of their lives

· Helping and supporting students to remain safe

· Preparing students for their next step after they leave school

We monitor student personal development by considering:

· The quality and contribution of the personal development curriculum

· The quality and contribution of all curriculum subjects

· The quality and range of extra-curricular activities and the level of student participation

· The quality and range of school visits and trips and the level of student participation

· The quality and range of the wider work of the school and activities which contribute to students’ personal development

· The quality and depth of promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion both within and outside of school

· The breadth and quality of careers information and guidance provided

· The breadth and quality of pastoral care provided to pupils

· How well students have been prepared for life in modern Britain and their future role as responsible, active citizens within society

· The preparation of students for the next phase of their education, employment or training

· The development of student’s own character and personal values
