A warm welcome to the Governors’ page of the Meole Brace School website.
We hope this page gives you a better understanding of who the MBS Governors are and what we do to support the school and hold it to account for the quality of education it provides.
Governors are all volunteers and we come from a variety of backgrounds. This means we bring a wide range of skills and experience to support our work. Meole Brace has governors with backgrounds in business, management, Human Resources and law as well as in primary, secondary and further education. Some governors are parents; others, including the headteacher, are members of staff. The Full Governing Body meets once a term with four subcommittees* also meeting each term to steer and oversee all aspects of school life.
The governing body is very pleased to have appointed Alan Doust as headteacher. He joined us on September 1st 2018 at what is an exciting time for Meole Brace School. Governors are working to establish the Central Shropshire Multi Academy Trust (CSMAT) with Belvidere and Mary Web Schools.
The three schools in the CSMAT already enjoy good working relationships and we intend to build on these in the future. There will be no initial changes for staff, students and parents but once the multi academy trust is legally established some changes to governance will be required. A Board of Trustees, including governors from MBS, will be set up to oversee the work of the Trust. There will be regular updates about how we progress on this page.
Governors believe that MBS will go from strength to strength within the CSMAT, in partnership with parents and other members of the community. We are committed to upholding Meole Brace’s core values and continuing to ensure that all our students have access to high quality education in a safe, supportive but suitably challenging environment. Our priority is to ensure that each student develops their academic, personal and social skills to the highest level they can in preparation for leading happy, successful lives.
*The Full Governing Body meets once each term. The four sub committees also meet once every term, these are: Curriculum; Finance and General Purposes; Personnel; Premises, Security, Health and Safety.
