Year 9 trip to Köln 2014
From the 10th of December to the 14th of December, twenty nine year 9 students visited Köln in Germany as part of their German language studies.
The trip started at 11.30 on the Wednesday night. At 12.00 the coach set off and travelled through the morning to the port of Dover. The group then boarded a ferry to Calais where they arrived at about 8 o’clock. With most people being asleep they travelled through France and into Belgium. Then with a break for lunch in Belgium they set off for Köln. The coach driver gave them a tour of Brussels from the motorway. Then they were all set for Köln.
Around four o’clock they arrived in the youth hostel where they would stay the night. Then the students went up to their rooms to unpack and get settled in and then they headed out again for an Italian meal at the Vapiano. The meal was really nice and enjoyable. When the meal was finished they left the restaurant and had their first shopping time of the trip at a market called Rudolfsplatz where there was an opportunity to spend some money and buy family members presents. Then they headed back to the hostel for the night.
The next morning they woke up ready and excited for the day ahead. They ate their breakfast in the hostel, packed their things up and left their bags in the reception area. They headed into the Köln city centre and saw the cathedral, went shopping, had a tour of Köln, had some lunch, went in the cathedral and climbed up to the top and went shopping in the big Christmas market.
It was a very enjoyable trip and was loved by everyone who took part.
