Study Visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum
Thirty students of Latin from three year groups have just returned from a Classics trip to the Campania region of Italy, flying to Naples and staying in the beautiful town of Sorrento.
The students were engaged in a range of activities, including climbing Mount Vesuvius, visiting both Pompeii and Herculaneum (including the brand new multi-media audio visual museum), visiting Naples and its world famous museum, in addition to travelling by hydrofoil to the stunning island of Capri to visit the Villa Jovis and to enjoy some social time exploring the island.
The students also enjoyed the opportunity for a taste sensation through several gastronomic excursions, including a chocolate factory and an ice cream producer. They watched mozzarella cheese being made and sampled local food products. On the last day the group enjoyed a traditional pizza making experience in a lemon grove on a hillside farm.
The feedback from all students and parents involved has been amazing, so watch this space for news of the next trip in 2016.
