2014 British Schools Biathlon Championships

On Sunday 6th April 3 Meole Brace students took part in the National Schools Modern Biathlon Finals at the Olympic Park, London. Ryan Knott (7Y2), Will Carter (10Y4) and Angus Comerford (10G4) qualified for the Finals after successful performances at William Brookes School in November 2013. The event consisted of a 100m/200m swim, held in the London Aquatic Centre which hosted the 2012 Olympic swimming events and a 1600m run held on the grounds of the venue.

Ryan managed to take 20 seconds off his run time from qualifying finishing 1600m in 5minutes 57.56secs which helped him finish 107th in a hugely contested U13s category! Ryan showed exceptional determination throughout the day and can be very proud of his achievement!
In the U15s competition, Angus knocked 27seconds off his 1600m qualifying run to clock 5 minutes 51.68secs after a successful swim. This meant Angus finished 58th in the whole competition which is a fantastic achievement!
In the U16s event. Will put in a magnificent performance to win his running heat in 5 minutes 20.84secs and to record a personal best in the pool, swimming 200m in 2 minutes 10.74 seconds. Will finished a superb 13th in the national competition!
Massive congratulations to all 3 pupils who put in fantastic performances and represented Meole Brace superbly!
