PDC
Personal Development Curriculum
The Personal Development Curriculum (PDC) incorporates 5 themes:-
- Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
- Careers Education and Guidance (CEG)
- Citizenship (Citz)
- Work Related Learning (WRL)
- Enterprise Education (EE)
It is one of the main vehicles this school uses to meet the agenda of the Green Paper "Every Child Matters" (2003).
Some of the component themes are statutory, others have an agreed national framework and some are only applicable to a particular Key Stage.
Key Stage 3
During this Key Stage pupils will receive modules focussing on PSHE, CEG and Citz. There will be elements of EE but these will not feature as stand alone units and will be combined with the delivery of the main 3 themes.
Key Stage 4
During this Key Stage all of the themes will be addressed. Outside agencies are used to the full so the delivery always reflects current trends and thoughts which are obviously so important to these topics.
Delivery
At the moment the pupils receive a timetabled lesson (1hour) during our two weekly curriculum delivery. This is supplemented by additional time during the morning registration period.
