ICT
The department is well resourced with 3 ICT suites capable of 1:1 pupil/computer ratio. All PCs use Windows XP and Office Pro applications, as well as Corel Draw 12 and Macromedia software.
Assessment
All the work done in ICT will be assessed to national curriculum levels. Each lesson the learning objectives are on display and the levels are related to these. Assessment may take place in the lesson or at the end of the module, depending on the nature of the task.
Home Study/Support
There is no expectation that all pupils have a computer at home. To help pupils not in this fortunate situation the department allows pupils to carry out ICT coursework in school for 3 nights a week after 3:10. Pupils studying ICT at National Certificate level would obviously benefit from access to a computer after school in order to practice skills needed throughout the course. Regular attendance at the after school sessions is one way pupils are encouraged to raise their levels of achievement.
